Fully Automated CNC Reed Making by RT Shepherd & Son

RT Shepherd and Son after approximately 12 months development with a German machining company are now almost ready to install a fully automated CNC machine to produce single blade reeds.

This machine will be able to deliver controlled production parameters such as gouging, shaping, profiling and strength measuring thus producing a measured profile specification and measured cane classification helping the RT Shepherd and Son factory to continue to provide the quality of reed they are renowned for.

Over the years, a number of manufacturers, including RT Shepherd, have refined the process of drone reed making to give us a choice of dependable and stable drone reed products. With the addition of its new CNC machine, RT Shepherd is poised to take chanter reed making to a more controlled level.
